Our Whaletale brand honours the power of time. The ocean doesn’t rush, so neither do we. We like to let the cask tell its tale. Distilled in Scotland in May 2018, our Whisky was brought down to age in South Africa. Placed in bourbon casks and finished off with a combination of French and American oak. The result is an incredibly smooth, easy-drinking masterpiece.
What makes our Whaletale brand truly stand out in the market, is the design of the bottle. Our bottle is shaped like a Whale’s tail. With a beautiful gold neck and glass cork, our spirits really look as good as they taste. The bottles feature a remarkable story (tale) about a whale and its link to our beautiful country.
Whisky Story:
Nestled in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, the birthplace of Nelson Mandela, lies the world-famous "Hole in the Wall." Known as esiKhaleni by the Xhosa people, meaning "place of noise," the “Hole in the Wall’ is a tidal island with a magnificent natural archway at its center. This colossal archway is believed by many to have been sculpted by ferocious waves created by whales in the local area. According to Xhosa folklore, the “Hole in the Wall” is far more than a geological wonder, it is revered as a sacred gateway to their ancestors. Much like the waves that shaped the "Hole in the Wall," Whale Tale Whisky is crafted with patience and purpose. Sip slowly, and savour the stories that bind us across time and tide.
